An Introduction: Facebook Turned Blog Post.
I suppose the best place to start, for anyone's weight loss journey, is at the beginning.
I recently posted the following message on Facebook. It generated a massive response, filled with praise, encouragement, inspiration and so forth. Consequently, I decided to participate in this truly special, unique website: Terra Nirvana. Perhaps the story of my struggles and accomplishments, my determination and optimism, my personal journey of weight loss, will help inspire others.
Once upon a time, I went through a bad breakup and allowed myself to gain weight.
And then I was in a car accident. And I woke up.
I realized that I only have one life as ME, as Casey. And I am sure as hell not going to waste my life.
I know well that I am an incredibly blessed person. And I will not take that fact for granted ever again.
Now I eat clean, I exercise, and I'm starting to lose weight, one small step at a time.
I look forward to the day when I successfully look like THIS again. Not for vanity. Not for dating. Not for other's approval. For my health, and for MYSELF.
Thank you to the friends who are supporting me on this journey- I love you very much.

"We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams."
- Arthur O'Shaughnessy
I purposefully and intentionally labeled my page as a weight loss blog.
However, like anyone else, I have other interests, and passions, and important things that personify and inspire my life.
A prime example of this is the film "August Rush." Although it may be obscure and, for all I know, panned by critics, this film can teach all of us a very simple, true message.
Not so very long ago, I knew Rachel Platten before she was "famous," before her breakthrough single became Hillary Clinton's campaign anthem, and an inspiration for anyone who needed a "Fight Song." Myself included.
Search out, find and discover the music that resonates with you. Forget about ratings, forget about what's cool, find the music that inspires your soul. Music that inspires the soul can subsequently motivate a person to lose weight.
Music is universal. You are not alone. Find the music in your life, and you will find some semblance of peace, clarity and gratitude.
The screenwriter of "August Rush" phrased it more eloquently than I ever could:
Can you hear it?
I can hear it everywhere.
In the wind.
In the air.
In the light.
It's all around us.
All you have to do is open yourself up.
All you have to do... is listen.
Remembering the Champ: June 6, 2016
Back in Louisville, my papa bear used to box in the same gym as Cassius Clay, long before he became The Champ, Muhammad Ali. This has been a tough weekend for Papa Craig.
Muhammad Ali and his remarkable daughter are the ones that inspired me to start boxing in the first place. I look forward to the day when my wrist is healed from my car accident, and I can start boxing again- in honor of The Greatest!
